About Al Karama
Al Karama is a busy older residential and commercial district in the heart of Bur Dubai, known for its affordable shopping, restaurants and tight-knit community feel. It is one of the more established neighbourhoods in the city, with low and mid-rise apartment buildings above rows of shops, and it draws a mixed, long-settled population.
The streets are lined with small shops, textile and souvenir stores, cafes and restaurants, with flats above them. It is dense and walkable, and the buildings tend to be older. Because of the sheer number of shops and small businesses packed in, much of our work here is commercial, alongside residential in the older apartment blocks, and older systems here often need repair or upgrading.
