Bur Dubai is the historic district on the south side of the Creek, facing Deira across the water. It is one of the oldest parts of the city, home to the Al Fahidi historic area, textile souks, temples and a dense mix of shops, offices and older apartment blocks. Abras still cross the Creek between here and Deira, and the area keeps a busy, traditional character.
The population is mixed and long-settled, with many small trading businesses and a large residential community in the older buildings around Meena Bazaar, Al Mankhool and Golden Sand. Like Deira, a lot of the work here is commercial because of the sheer number of shops, but there is plenty of residential too, and older buildings often need existing camera systems repaired or upgraded.
